Activities

There is so many things to do in the area we could not possibly list them all.  Below will give you a flavour of the area and the varied activities available for all ages.

Walking

Wester Ross is one of the most interesting walking/hillwalking areas in Scotland and offers the walker a wide variety of both low level and higher level walks in dramatic scenery, wild flowers and wild life abound.

 

You are likely to see red deer, birds of prey and possibly eagles to name a few.

Boat trips

Take a boat trip and enjoy a wide variety of sea birds, seals, porpoises and occasionally dolphins, basking sharks and whales. (click on the links below for more details)

Fishing

Sea angling - plenty of opportunities in the sea lochs around the area.

 

Fishing inland - Wester Ross is a popular area for fishing with remote lochs and great river systems.  Bear in mind you may need permission to fish in some areas.

Inverewe gardens

A lush, tropical oasis perched on a peninsula at the edge of Loch Ewe amid the rugged landscape of Wester Ross, this world-famous historic garden is one of Scotland’s most popular botanical attractions.

 

It is surrounded by over 2,000 acres of estate managed for conservation.  Click here for more information.

Gairloch golf club
Other Activities

Gairloch Golf Club occupies a fabulous location above a beautiful long sandy beach with the Minch and the islands of Skye, Harris and Lewis to the west, the mountains of Torridon to the south, and the wilderness of Letterewe to the east. 

 

The 9-hole course set amongst rolling dunes provides an excellent challenge to golfers of all abilities – with a testing par for low handicappers but a forgiving nature for the more casual player.  Click here for more information.
